Internet Marketing 101
May 30th, 2003
Hey y'all;
Last week I was talking about benefits and what they mean to your potential
customers. So this week, I'm not really sure what to talk about, though
I'm sure I'll come up with something as I ramble on.
In fact it's strange that I'm really not that much of a talker normally,
however when I get on the phone or at an event such as a workshop, I seem
to talk my fool head off. Sometimes too much at that.
Yeah I know, I wrote about listening (couple
of weeks ago) to others and learning from what they are trying to tell
you. My problem is enthusiasm. When I get to talking and maybe brainstorming
with others, my enthusiasm just grows and grows. Sometimes it overloads
my mouth, so do as I suggest and not as I do.
...grin... Listen to others....
Geessh, that sounds like a parent talking.
Anyway, do you have enthusiasm?
Do you bubble over when talking about your business?
If not, well shoot fire, why NOT??
Don't you like your business?
I mean after all, how do you sell something to someone else if you are
not even excited about it?
It's kind of like the story, which I can't remember where I read this,
anyway you have a shoe salesman who lands on Mars and discovers none of
the Martians wear shoes. Unexcited, he relays a radio message back to
earth saying "what a wasted trip, no one wears shoes here"
be back to earth soon.
The next shoe salesman that lands there from another company sends back
this message (full of excitement): "Send lots of supplies and shoes,
no one here HAS a single pair of shoes!!!".
I just wish I could remember where I read that story at to give proper
credit. If you have seen it please let me know the source.
Anyway I hope you understand what I'm trying to stress here. You have
to like and be excited about what you are selling. However that's not
all. Actually what I'm working up to is perception.
One salesman saw no potential whatsoever, whereas the other saw a gold
mine
For example, we have a 22+ pound cat named Gimpy. I mean this cat loves
to eat. He seems to always be hungry. BUT, his bowl can have cat food
in it and he turns his nose up at it.
However I can act like I put new food in it by opening the plastic container,
snap close the lid, stir his dry cat food and make it rattle in the bowl
and he dives in. Go figure. His perceives that I put some fresh cat food
in the bowl.
In fact, he is behind me in my chair right now rubbing against my arms
as I type (makes it tough to type) wanting me to go feed him. Geesh, he
never gives up. It's 3:30 AM right now and he perceives he is hungry.
Perception is a funny thing. Hopefully you understand that people perceive
things differently. Try to allow for this in your promotional efforts
and how you approach your product as well as the pricing.
Another thing is, don't sell your services or products too short. Now
that's not to say that you jack the price way up and rob everyone either.
You could price yourself out of the market. But if your price is too low,
then it may have your audience thinking your product is not worth much.
One of the forums I was in earlier had some posts about an ebook the person
was selling for $7.00. Several people commented that if the ebook contained
even just a portion of the content the author's site did, then it was
way under priced at $7.00.
Several suggested to raise the price because it might be perceived as
not worth much at the current price.
By the way that discussion forum is: (and it is a great resource)
http://www.ablake.net/forum/
It is owned by Anthony Blake and receives several million pageviews a
month. Yeah that's right, A MONTH.

Hey it's all a matter of perception.
If you perceive you can NOT, YOU CAN'T.
If you perceive you can, YOU CAN.
Now just do it.
;-)
Ok, let's move on. I've got to finish this issue up, because the sun will
be rising shortly and that means there is a lawn mower waiting for me
with my name on the seat. Geesh, I just love to cut grass, well with the
riding mower that is. I hate weed eating and trimming though. It takes
longer than cutting the lawn.
But last week in an example, I mentioned an ebook on "How to grow
house plants" and it inspired me to write an ebook called:
"How To Mow, Weed Eat And Trim Your Lawn Without Touching A Tool"
Below is a free copy:

"Buy a goat"
The end.

Well I must be getting delerious from lack of sleep...
Anyway, a friend of mine, Ken Fort is putting on his first teleseminar
on June 3rd. I would like to invite you to join in on the fun. He has
hired Alex Mandossian to conduct, dissect and analyze his step by step
efforts in doing the teleseminar.
In Ken's words:
"You'll actually listen-in as Alex Mandossian takes what a REAL
business owner, that's me, has tried to plan for a teleseminar, and see
him analyze it ... re-strategize it ... fine tune it and make-it-over
... on the spot.
He's going to do that with this very event that I am hosting for you!
To be quite honest - I'm a little nervous how he might tear apart every
detail and make me look bad.
But the funny thing is ... you my fellow business owners are going to
LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT! This is a LIVE training event - no editing ...
no polishing -- just a real down- and-dirty LIVE coaching session."
This teleseminar is targeting "How to hold a teleseminar". It
should be real interesting since it is Ken's first. What better way to
learn than to sit in live while a master (Alex) of teleseminars puts Ken's
event under the magnifying glass.
To read more about Alex, Ken and this event go to:

You know from my previous issues that I like these events, so I plan on
being on the phone to listen in as well. I have met and talked with Alex
at a workshop and I expect this to be a very informative event on how
to do a teleseminar and an excellent lesson in marketing. Alex is a true
professional.
Well the sun is starting to peek through the windows, guess I better go
get the goat, errrr, I mean lawn mower out.
Oh yeah I almost forgot to say thank you to several people who
emailed that they didn't get last weeks copy of the newsletter via email.
I guess the filters are getting worse each day.
